Mid Canterbury Boxing Academy - testimonials
Cornelius is the best role model anyone could have. He has helped me with being respectful and showing me guidelines so my life can be successful with lots of good things.
Cornelius, my boy really looks up to you. Thank you! I can see the change in my boy for good.
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you reaching out to my son through boxing. He comes from a good home background but has made some unwise decisions. After some difficult life situations his life turned to anger; he felt worthless. I try to make him see his potential and I am grateful for people like you who also help him see that too. Thanks for all you do in the community for these teenage boys.

Congrats to Cornelius on all fronts and it is fantastic to see positive young men celebrating individuals and of course success as a team, the work that the boxing academy is doing now will help these young men progress through life in a successful manner as they will be both mentally and physically strong enough to cope with whatever comes their way! Well done to your entire team !!

Boxing is not just about punching people in the face. It's a technical sport that requires a lot of self discipline and self control. It requires a high level of fitness and you need to train hard to achieve well. You need to know your reach, punch straight and return your hands back to your face after punching to protect yourself. If someone tries to hurt you, you know how to defend yourself. I think everyone should do boxing, not because I like it, but because it teaches you life skills like respect. You have to respect your opponent, give them a pat on the back after a fight and say thank you".
I am writing to say thank you for teaching me how to be respectful to others around me and teaching me positive life skills. First I would like to thank you for being a good coach for me and the boys at the gym. Your ways inspire me to do less crime; leading me on the right path in life. You are a great coach. When I come to training you are a positive role model and you inspire me to do better things in life. I would like to thank you for teaching me how to be more respectful toward the police and public. Showing me your good way in life, and that is it never too late to turn around and go the right way. These are the life skills that are going to help me
a lot in the future.”
“The respect you bring into classes makes me think about using respect everywhere I go and not just in the boxing gym. I use respect at work to the managers, other staff members and with the equipment I use. I just want to take the time to thank you for teaching me some life skills. I want to do boxing with you every week and I hope you continue to be my trainer.“
“Thank you for teaching me boxing, supporting my choices an leading me in the right direction for my future. Since you believed in me and showed me that you had faith in me I have started going to ACADS and youth group which is something I would not usually do. I would also like to thank you for helping me with my self-esteem and confidence around others.“
